15 Fact about snakes.

1.The decapitated head of a dead snake

can still bite, even hours after death. These

types of bites usually contain huge

amounts of venom.

2.What is considered the most

“dangerous” snake depends on both a

specific country’s health care and the

availability of antivenom following a bite.

Based on these criteria, the most

dangerous snake in the world is the saw-

scaled viper, which bites and kills more

people each year than any other snake.

3.Snakes live on everywhere on Earth

except for Ireland, Iceland, New Zealand, and

the North and South Poles.

4.Of the approximately 725 species of

venomous snakes worldwide, 250 can kill a

human with one bite.

5.Snakes evolved from a four-legged

reptilian ancestor—most likely a small,

burrowing, land-bound lizard—about 100

million years ago. Some snakes, such as

pythons and boas, still have traces of back

legs.

6.The fear of snakes (ophiophobia or

herpetophobia) is one of the most common

phobias worldwide. Approximately 1/3 of all

adult humans are ophidiophobic, which

suggests that humans have an innate,

evolutionary fear of snakes.

7.The top 5 most venomous snakes in the

world is the inland taipan, the eastern

brown snake, the coastal taipan, the tiger

snake, and the black tiger snake.

8.The warmer a snake’s body, the more

quickly it can digest its prey. Typically, it

takes 3–5 days for a snake to digest its

meal. For very large snakes, such as the

anaconda, digestion can take weeks.

9.Some animals, such as the Mongoose,

are immune to snake venom.

10.To avoid predators, some snakes can

poop whenever they want. They make

themselves so dirty and smelly that

predators will run away.

11.The heaviest snake in the world is the

anaconda. It weighs over 595 pounds (270

kg) and can grow to over 30 feet (9m) long.

It has been known to eat caimans,

capybaras, and jaguars.

12.The Brahminy Blind Snake, or flowerpot

snake is the only snake species made up

of sole females and, as such, does not

need a mate to reproduce. It is also the

most widespread terrestrial snake in the

world.

13.If a person suddenly turned into a

snake, they would be about 4 times longer

then they are now and only a few inches

thick. While humans have 24 ribs, some

snakes can have more than 400.

14.The most advanced snake species in the

world is believed to be the black mamba. It

has the most highly evolved venom

the delivery system of any snake on Earth. It

can strike up to 12 times in a row, though

just one bite is enough to kill a grown man.

15.The inland taipan is the world’s most

toxic snake, meaning it has both the most

toxic venom and it injects the most venom

when it bites. Its venom sacs hold enough

poison to kill up to 80 people.

Terrifying 33ft anaconda discovered lurking in caves near dam construction site in Brazil

THE WORLD'S BIGGEST SNAKE? Terrifying 33ft anaconda discovered lurking in caves near dam construction site in Brazil Construction worker  in brazil found a 33ft snake   A giant snake measuring 33-feet long has been discovered on a building site in northern Brazil. The 400kg reptile was discovered by workers after they carried out a controlled explosion in the Cave of Altamira, in the northern state of Para. V ideo footage taken by one of the crew pans down the snake’s enormous body — which measures one metre in diameter. After making the frightening discovery, the workers chained the animal to a crane and later lifted it up to reveal its yellow spotted under belly - a move which was criticised in the comments when the clip was uploaded to YouTube. It's claimed the builders killed the snake rather than leave it in its natural habitat but this has not been confirmed.

Worlds biggest snakes

WORLDS BIGGEST SNAKE FOUND IN BRAZIL RIVER  Most of us would see a massive anaconda and panic, quickly fleeing for our lives. But one man on a boat with two other individuals felt it was the perfect opportunity to prove he was brave and grab the snake's tail. Anacondas are some of the largest snakes in the world, and although they are not venomous, this particular snake's size would be enough to make anyone run away. Local media reported the three individuals in the video were Sirlei Oliveira, husband Betinho Borges and Rodrigo Santos, a friend. They were on a small boat on the Santa Maria River in Mato Grosso do Sul, a southwestern state in Brazil, the  Daily Mail  reported, and each individual has been fined $600 by environmental police. They have also been charged and face up to 18 months in jail if they are found guilty of violating a law that prohibits chasing or hunting wildlife without a licence, the Mail reported. A teacher finds a red-bellied black snake under her DESK.

A venomous red-bellied black snake has been found in the classroom at a Queensland school. The poisonous snake was discovered by a teacher sitting at her desk at the Noosa Christian College this week. A reptile catcher released footage of the moment he captured the snake using a stick, twirled it around in his hand and lured it into a black bag. 'The teacher was sitting at her desk when she looked down at her feet and saw a snake head poking around the corner by her feet,' he said. 'Lucky for her this gorgeous animal was very shy and quickly went back into cover,' he said. 'Absolutely beautiful snake, red bellies are my favorite.' He is shown twirling the snake around his hand and then finally seizing the reptile into his black bag. 'Of all the places for a red belly black snake to be, under the desk here is very interesting,' he said. The red-bellied black snake (Pseudechis porphyriacus) is a species of elapid snake native to
