A college student got an unpleasant surprise on a recent trip to her refrigerator.

Instead of coming away with food Tuesday morning, the Hamilton College student was given a fright when she discovered a large snake behind the fridge in her dorm, WKTV reported.

The student was “very, very upset,” according to campus security, which said a worker caught the nearly 5-foot long yellow snake believed to be a boa constrictor, Syracuse.com reported.
In spite of the shock, the student did not pack up and leave her dorm and college, according to 96.1 The Eagle, which said she was “doing much better” a day after finding the large snake.

The snake is a pet of another Hamilton student living in Bundy East Residence hall, per WKTV, which said the serpent was able to escape from the tote it was being kept in and likely slid under the door.
But students are not allowed to have pets on campus, unless they are a service animal, according to 96.1 The Eagle.

“It’s a beautiful snake. But why it was at college with someone is really strange,” said Judy Cusworth, who runs a wildlife center where the snake is being held until it’s owner picks it up, Syracuse.com reported. “The fact that it’s a boa constrictor should give someone pause. What if he wrapped himself around someone’s neck while they were sleeping?”

The State has previously reported that boa constrictors are not poisonous snakes, but they can — and have — killed humans, according to National Geographic.

“We know large constrictors can be dangerous to people. It seems like every few years a person is killed by a large boa constrictor or python, usually a captive snake, but once in a while a snake in the wild,” said Brad Moon, an expert on how snakes kill by constriction, according to National Geographic.

No injuries were reported after the Hamilton College student found the snake in her dorm.

Terrifying 33ft anaconda discovered lurking in caves near dam construction site in Brazil

THE WORLD'S BIGGEST SNAKE? Terrifying 33ft anaconda discovered lurking in caves near dam construction site in Brazil Construction worker  in brazil found a 33ft snake   A giant snake measuring 33-feet long has been discovered on a building site in northern Brazil. The 400kg reptile was discovered by workers after they carried out a controlled explosion in the Cave of Altamira, in the northern state of Para. V ideo footage taken by one of the crew pans down the snake’s enormous body — which measures one metre in diameter. After making the frightening discovery, the workers chained the animal to a crane and later lifted it up to reveal its yellow spotted under belly - a move which was criticised in the comments when the clip was uploaded to YouTube. It's claimed the builders killed the snake rather than leave it in its natural habitat but this has not been confirmed.

Worlds biggest snakes

WORLDS BIGGEST SNAKE FOUND IN BRAZIL RIVER  Most of us would see a massive anaconda and panic, quickly fleeing for our lives. But one man on a boat with two other individuals felt it was the perfect opportunity to prove he was brave and grab the snake's tail. Anacondas are some of the largest snakes in the world, and although they are not venomous, this particular snake's size would be enough to make anyone run away. Local media reported the three individuals in the video were Sirlei Oliveira, husband Betinho Borges and Rodrigo Santos, a friend. They were on a small boat on the Santa Maria River in Mato Grosso do Sul, a southwestern state in Brazil, the  Daily Mail  reported, and each individual has been fined $600 by environmental police. They have also been charged and face up to 18 months in jail if they are found guilty of violating a law that prohibits chasing or hunting wildlife without a licence, the Mail reported. A teacher finds a red-bellied black snake under her DESK.

A venomous red-bellied black snake has been found in the classroom at a Queensland school. The poisonous snake was discovered by a teacher sitting at her desk at the Noosa Christian College this week. A reptile catcher released footage of the moment he captured the snake using a stick, twirled it around in his hand and lured it into a black bag. 'The teacher was sitting at her desk when she looked down at her feet and saw a snake head poking around the corner by her feet,' he said. 'Lucky for her this gorgeous animal was very shy and quickly went back into cover,' he said. 'Absolutely beautiful snake, red bellies are my favorite.' He is shown twirling the snake around his hand and then finally seizing the reptile into his black bag. 'Of all the places for a red belly black snake to be, under the desk here is very interesting,' he said. The red-bellied black snake (Pseudechis porphyriacus) is a species of elapid snake native to
